With significant encouragement from members who attended our AGM in April, we have pressed on with our air quality monitoring programme and have been sharing data with Bucks County Council and Chiltern & South Bucks District Councils. Interestingly enough, we have just heard that the Ivers have been designated as an Air Quality Management Area (AQMA). As such, the local authority is required by the government to produce an air quality Action Plan describing the pollution reduction measures it will put in place.
Our monitoring programme, which involves sending air samples from ten sites across the village to Gradko Laboratories for analysis, commenced in August 2017. We now have ten months' worth of data, results from which worryingly show that seven of the sites have exceeded, or frequently exceed, the UK/EU legal Nitrogen Dioxide threshold above which action should be taken.
We are continuing with this important project, publish latest statistics in the our quarterly newsletters and will share important updates on the AQMA progress on our website. In the meantime, if you have any questions about this scheme then please get in touch.
