PLAN FOR MOTORWAY SERVICES IN IVER HEATH

Welcome Break has submitted an outline planning application for an M25 Motorway Service Area located in the Colne Valley on the borders of Iver Heath and Uxbridge. The land is owned by Buckinghamshire Council and includes part of Mansfield Farm. A service road is in the plans on the A4007, Slough Road, off Chandler’s Hill.

The site is planned to include:

  • A hotel
  • Drive-thru coffee and food
  • large central plaza
  • Provision for more than 1,300 car parking spaces and 200 HGV spaces
  • HGV amenity building
  • Coach, caravan and electric vehicle parking
  • Bridleway and dog walking facilities

This project represents yet another infrastructure development within the boundaries of our village. In our recent member survey, residents voiced their concerns for the proposal in terms of local traffic congestion, erosion of green space as well as increases in air and noise pollution.

It is also worth noting that there are competing proposals from Extra to build motorway services on the M25 around J16 and J17, near Chalfont St Peter https://motorwayservicesonline.co.uk/Warren_Farm and by Moto at junction 20 (Kings Langley) https://motorwayservicesonline.co.uk/Kings_Langley. Surely planning authorities cannot argue that all three service areas in such close proximity can be justified.
